Entry requirements
Mixed English/Academic Program
Students who gain entry into the Mixed English/Academic Program typically have an English language level that is 1/2 an IELTS band (or equivalent) below that required for direct entry to the academic program. Note, students may not study the Mixed English/Academic Program with the Pre-Masters in Information Technology or the Degree Transfer Pathway to Engineering and Construction Management.
Certificate IV in University Foundation Studies
Entry into the Certificate IV program generally requires the successful completion of Year 11 or equivalent.
University level Diploma Programs
Entry into Diploma programs generally requires the successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent. If you have completed Year 12 or equivalent but your results do not qualify you for entry into a Diploma program, you will be admitted to the Certificate IV program. You may then transfer to Diploma level after one semester, subject to achieving a grade average of 70% in four courses.
Pre-Masters in Information Technology
Entry to the Pre-Masters requires a recognised three or four year Bachelor degree or a recognised three or four year Diploma, in any field. English proficiency is IELTS 6.0 with 6.0 sub scores in reading and writing. Please see below for more detailed information. If you are unsure of whether you have sufficient qualifications, please submit your application to SAIBT for assessment.
Adult entry
Australian students who are at least 20 years of age may qualify for adult entry. Adult entry students students may be admitted into a program without meeting the formal academic requirements if they have relevant work experience and/or other acceptable qualifications. Previous study in related fields and STAT results may also be taken into consideration.
International students are not eligible to apply for adult entry and are required to meet both the academic and English language requirements of the SAIBT program for which they are applying.
