A sophisticated, cosmopolitan city of around 1.2 million people, Adelaide is Australia's fifth largest city. It is located between a coastline of white sandy beaches and the beautiful Mount Lofty Ranges. Adelaide is known as the 20-minute city because it only takes 20 minutes to get from the city to the hills or beaches. It is also renowned for its beautiful, green parklands, which ring the city centre and make up 45 per cent of the total city area.
Cost of Living
The cost of living in Adelaide is considerably lower than other Australian capital cities. The latest international statistics from the Economist Intelligence Unit show that it costs 18% more to live in Sydney, 15% more in Melbourne, 7% more in Perth and 5% more in Brisbane.
SAIBT estimates that a single international student requires approximately A$11,000 per year for accommodation, food, textbooks and other study materials, as well as your personal expenses including transport, entertainment and recreation costs. This amount does not cover major expenses such as your tuition fees, the purchase of a car, television, stereo or computer.
Location
SAIBT is conveniently located in the centre of the city of Adelaide on the City East campus of UniSA. Our central location means that many students can walk or cycle to SAIBT. Students who catch public transport such as buses or trains rarely have to travel for more than 15 or 20 minutes.
Adelaide also has a network of FREE buses which allow you to travel around the city centre at no cost. SAIBT students receive a discount on public transport fares, and a weekly 10 trip ticket will only cost about AUD$12.00
Adelaide is a compact city, which makes it quick and easy place to get around. It has an integrated bus, train and tram public transport system connecting all parts of the city and suburbs. We are often called the '20-minute city' because it is possible to reach almost any point of the metropolitan area within twenty minutes.
