High School Programmes

ACG offers a range of high school qualifications (Years 7-13) to both international and domestic students, including the NZ Qualifications Authority University Bursary and the Cambridge International Examinations.

New Zealand Qualifications Authority

  • The University Entrance & Bursaries Scholarships examinations (UEBS) – available in a wide range of Year 13/Form 7 subjects.

  • Higher School Certificate (HSC) – also Year 13/Form 7

  • Sixth Form Certificate (SFC) – Year 12/Form 6 (in 2002 only)

In addition, students may enter:

  • National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 1, offered in a limited number of Year 11/Form 5 subjects (in 2002 only)

  • New Zealand Education and Scholarship Trust (NZEST) Examinations
    (Year 13/Form 7)

  • Combined Schools Sixth Form External Examinations (Year 12/Form 6)

The University Entrance & Bursaries Scholarships examinations (UEBS) results are used to determine University Entrance and which degree courses a student may be eligible to enter.

The University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate

  • International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) – offered in most Year 11/Form 5 subjects

  • Advanced students in Year 10 may also sit some IGCSE examinations

  • Advanced Subsidiary Examinations (AS) – offered in most subjects at
    Year 12/Form 6, commencing 2003

  • A Level Examinations (AL) will follow and be available from 2004

These qualifications are offered at ACG Junior College, ACG Senior College, ACG New Zealand International College and ACG Strathallan

The University of Auckland Foundation Studies Programme

The University of Auckland Foundation Studies Programme prepares international students for entry into the University's degree programmes.

The Foundation Studies Programme is designed to develop skills in:

  • English Language, leading to an IELTS assessment
  • The style of study at university
  • Critical and independent thinking
  • Computer use and research
  • Essential subject knowledge
     

AGC English

English language preparation for academic success! This Programme offers a solid introduction to English and provides necessary skills for ongoing education in New Zealand.

ACG English language programmes are innovative. The modular structure developed by ACG creates flexibility, specialisation and quality, leading to top international standards.

ACG English offers two alternative routes:

  • Academic English
  • General English

Preparation for International Examinations

  • IELTS Preparation Course
    International English Language Testing System. Available at Pre-Intermediate A level and above.

  • TOEFL Preparation Course
    Test of English as a Foreign Language. Available at Intermediate level and above.

  • TOEIC Preparation Course
    Test of English for International Communication. Available at Intermediate level and above.

  • University of Cambridge English Examination Preparation
    KET, PET, FCE and CAE.

Academic English

Academic English prepares students for academic studies in an English language environment at high school, foundation or university level.
