General Entry Requirements

Undergraduate Courses

For most undergraduate level programmes, the minimum academic entry requirement is successful completion of a qualification equivalent to the New Zealand Year 13 - NCEA Level 3 University Entrance.

Postgraduate Courses

Masters applicants must have an appropriate undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution.

Doctorate Degree applicants must have a Bachelor's plus a Master's degree, or a Bachelor with Honours equivalent to four years of study and attainment at First Class or 2:1 level, from a recognised tertiary institution.

English Language Requirements

Undergraduate Courses

A recent IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5 can meet the English language requirement.
Test scores for English proficiency are valid for two years from the test date.

Postgraduate Courses

The Massey Academic Board may require that applicants have sufficient experience of individual research to benefit from the course of study. The English language requirement can be met by:
a.A minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0 or,
b.TOEFL:Paper-based test (P) - Minimum score of 575, TWE 4.0; or Computer-based Test (C) - Minimum score 232, Essay Rating 4.0; or Internet-based Test (iBT) - 90 (minimum writing 20)
