The University of Edinburgh, founded in 1583, is one of the UK's most prestigious universities. With a current student population of around 25,000 (roughly 18,000 undergraduates and 6,500 postgraduates). More than a fifth of these students are international and are drawn from more than 137 different countries. The University, having a scottish culture offers a flexible 3 or 4 year undergraduate degree and focused postgraduate programmes.
There are a total of 21 Schools in three Colleges: Humanties & Social Sciences, Medicine & Veterinary Medicine and Science & Engineering. The original campus is in the heart of Edinburgh's historical old town but the University has now expanded to 5 campuses in and around the city centre.

Getting to Edinburgh is easy, no matter where you are travelling from or how you choose to travel. The city has excellent road, rail and air transport links making it accessible from all major cities in the UK and beyond.

When it comes to shopping, Edinburgh has it all. From high street chains to specialist outfitters, bargain basements to exclusive boutiques, there really is no limit to places you can flex your plastic. So if you just want to exercise your wallet, the capital is a great place to shop. This is a city that knows it all, from the ancient to the modern.
Gardens and Greens
If you are looking to escape the buzz of the city or just fancy a leisurely walk, Edinburgh is just the place.
There's plenty of open spaces, with a large number of public parks and green spaces right in the busy city centre. For active individuals, there's an extensive and varied choice of sports and activities in Edinburgh.
The most obvious is Princes Street Gardens, right in the centre of the city this is the perfect place to take a break from shopping, nibble a sandwich, sit back and admire the castle.
