HIBT forms part of a global network of educational
institutions with other IBTs existing in Africa, Asia
and Australia. The IBTs are innovative institutions
that specialise in creating a supportive and effective
learning environment for international students. HIBT
courses are designed to help students meet the challenge
of the 21st Century; and to ensure that they have the
best possible introduction to British Higher Education.
HIBT courses are shorter, more intensive and much more
cost-effective than any equivalent pre-university or
university courses offered in the UK. HIBT students
study in a supportive and caring environment and receive
more tuition than most other students on equivalent
courses. HIBT lecturers are approved by the University
of Hertfordshire and are dedicated to understanding
and meeting the needs of international students so that
the students are able to achieve full potential.
The University's graduates are expected to display
imagination, intellectual discipline and flexibility
and these aims are consistent with those of HIBT, which
prepares students to move smoothly into University of
Hertfordshire courses. The affiliation of HIBT and the
University of Hertfordshire is designed primarily to
offer eligible students an alternative pathway to university
studies with Advanced Standing status. Diploma courses
are based on and are equivalent to the first year of
selected University of Hertfordshire Bachelor degrees,
and are monitored and fully recognised by the University.

Learning Resources Centre. The learning facilities include
1600 study places, with 80 computer workstations, extensive
book and journal collections, a variety of study places
and plug-in facilities for portable PCs. The centre

medical and financial services on campus, and should
students have any problems, the institution's International

Why Choose HIBT
Study On A University Campus
HIBT is located on the University of Hertfordshire's
Business School Campus in Hertford and students are
entitled to join in all aspects of university life.
HIBT students have access to the full range of services
and facilities available on the campus including library,
cafeteria, student resource centre, computer laboratories
and sporting and recreational facilities.
3-semester System and Fast Track Option
The scheduling of three semesters within one calendar
year is an example of HIBT's innovative educational
planning. Semesters commerce in January, May and September
of each year and are each 13 weeks duration. As most
courses offered by HIBT are studied over two semesters,
students can 'fast track' their studies and complete
within eight months.
Mixed Programs
Students who do not satisfy the English Language requirement
can enroll for a special English Language Support Program
and two academic units in the first semester of study.
The advantage of this approach is students combine the
learning of English language and support skills with
a gradual introduction to the academic subjects.
Small Lecture and Tutorial Groups
Lectures contain an average of twelve to twenty students
and are complemented by small group tutorials and workshops.
Academic staff are also available for one-to-one consultation
on a regular basis. HIBT students are assured of a superior
level of academic contact and support.
