The history of Queen's University can be traced back 1849. The University has always been ahead of its time. The University's 1908 Charter guaranteed equality for Women - 12 years before they were admitted at Oxford. During the years between the two World Wars, Queen's continued to develop as a centre of learning, but it was not until the 1950s that the dramatic reforms in higher education provided the impetus for rapid expansion. Throughout the next five decades the University developed in every sphere of activity as new buildings, new facilities and new courses were created to meet students' needs.
Queen's is a vibrant 21st century institution building on the excellence of its past to create an even brighter future and nurturing a dynamic community of academics and students to contribute to society around the world. There has never been a better time to enjoy the 'Queen's Experience'.
