The University of Surrey is one of the UK's foremost universities, rated 20th overall in the Guardian University Guide 2011. In both the Times Good University Guide 2011 and The Guardian University Guide 2011, the University of Surrey was listed in the top ten for Tourism, Electronic Engineering, Sociology and Biological Sciences.

The University of Surrey has many courses for students to choose from, offering a variety of subjects at undergraduate level. The University is well-received by local and international students, with submissions to the university increasing by 55% between 2006 and 2008. As of 2011 there are 14,441 students and over 2,300 staff at the University of Surrey.

The City of Guildford

The University of Surrey is situated in Guildford, Surrey. It is near the airports of Heathrow and Gatwick, and is only 40 minutes away from London Waterloo station by train.

Guildford has a range of attractions for just about everyone.

Leisure: The Guildford Spectrum leisure complex has swimming pools, an ice rink, a bowling alley and more.

Shopping: Tunsgate Square Shopping Centre is an attractive shopping town located in the heart of Guildford.

Food: There is a wide range of restaurants, cafes, fast food outlets and pubs to choose from.

Movies: The Odeon cinema is situated very close to the town centre, opposite the Guildford central train station.

Arts: There are a number of galleries in Guildford, including the Watts Gallery, the Harvey Gallery and the Red Biddy Gallery. Guildford also houses Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre.

Historical Monuments: Guildford is home to the Guildford Cathedral and the Guildford Castle.

Nature: Cruise down the river at the Guildford Boathouse, trek with Llamas in the Surrey Hills or visit the Loseley Park and Gardens.
