Foundation Certificate in English for Academic Purposes (FCEAP)
The FCEAP is available to students who have achieved an IELTS: 4.5 (or 5.0),
TOEFL: 475, TOEFL (computer-based): 153, or another recognized
equivalent English Language qualification. In addition to these English Language
requirements you must also hold an offer of a place on a UCE degree programme for the
academic year following the one in which you will be studying for the FCEAP.
Undergraduate Courses
You should satisfy one of the following:
GCSE/GCE passes in five subjects, of which at least two
subjects are at GCE/VCE A-Level or equivalent
A National Certificate or Diploma (awarded by BTEC/EdExcel)
A Higher National Certificate or Diploma (awarded by BTEC/EdExcel) ·
An International Baccalaureate with a minimum of 24 points
The satisfactory completion of a full-time Foundation Course
in Art and Design (this is preferred for entry to art and design courses)
not less than one academic year in length.
You will need to achieve an Overall Band Score of
IELTS 6.0 or above for most courses or
TOEFL 550 (213 Computer base).
Postgraduate Courses
You should normally hold a qualification which is comparable to
a British Bachelors degree.
Some postgraduate courses also require you to be above a specific age
or have relevant work experience.
IELTS 6.5or TOEFL
550 paper-based test (213 computer-based test).
Other recognised tests include: the Cambridge Proficiency
Certificate (C), the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (B)
